Pictures from Seoul

Mike and I really enjoyed Seoul so I thought I would share some pictures of our trip!! We flew on Korean Airlines which was wonderful! The flight attendants were so kind and beautiful. We were trying to figure out how they stayed so freshly made up on that long 13 hour flight! You can kind of see the cool map thingy we could look at to see exactly where we were.

So, we left Nashville Friday night at 7:15 and flew to LA. We flew out at 11:50 (1:50 local time)Friday night from LA. We landed in Seoul at 5:15 Sunday morning (3:15 Sat. afternoon local time). It was a LONG flight!!! When we arrived we went shopping in a village called Itaiwan. This is where Mike had his custom suit and shirts made. The first thing we saw when we got there was a restaurant called The Nashville Pub! And our cab driver loved country music and Elvis and Glenn Campbell. I thought this shoe store was interesting!

All over Seoul we noticed golf driving ranges. They were like hitting bays. Hotels had them and businesses had them and we found one at our hotel on the 5th floor. Also, I wanted to show off my fashion statement of panty hose!! It would have been rude for me to go to the foster home without anything covering my feet. It really is a good look, don't you think??!!

On Tuesday we took a tour of Seoul. We went to a couple of different market areas - Insadong which was similar to Greenwich village in NY and Namdaemun which is like Chinatown in NY but much, much larger.

We also visited a palace called Changgyeong palace built in the Joseon dynasty in the 1400's. It was beautiful! In the garden, there were some beautiful flowers. Guess what they were?? Peonies and Azaleas! I was expected different flowers than we had but no!

I had to get a picture of one of the guys at our hotel who dressed in traditional Korean clothes every morning.

Wednesday we were given our daughter!! What an incredible day! We began the day in the home of the Wasmunds. Dee Dee and Matt are missionaries in Asia. They have 2 beautiful daughters. We so enjoyed their home and company. They were a blessing from God that morning to calm our nerves!! After we left the Wasmund's home, we went straight to the adoption agency. As excited as we were to be handed our daughter, it was so,so sad for the foster mom. I cannot fathom the pain she was experiencing and I have to say that was one of the hardest moments Mike and I have experienced. Anna Grace did wonderfully. She didn't cry and she fell asleep in the cab on the way back to the hotel. She did cry very sad tears when she woke up. It was gut wrenching. So, we went for a walk and introduced her to American food - french fries and a milkshake. She loved them!! Gracie slept great that night and she and I bonded very quickly! She was a little leery of Mike for a couple of days but he has won her over now!!
And finally, a couple of pics of our return home!! I think Miss Anna Grace is adjusting well!! We came home to a wonderfully decorated house! Thank you Amy McBride and Tracy Smith and thanks Janet Master for decorating the mail box!
